• LLM in International Law and Global Challenges focuses on the issues facing today's international lawyers. Students will study the complex and dynamic nature of the international legal system and its role in foreign affairs.
  • This course is one of four taught law courses (LLM) we offer and is suitable for graduates of any background. It is ideal if students are interested in gaining a better understanding of how the law shapes and influences international affairs.
  • It will give students the knowledge, insights and practical skills to enhance their career in practice, the public, private or diplomatic sectors or academia. 
  • Students will study contemporary issues in public international law. Students will develop your knowledge and expertise in:
    • international dispute settlement
    • international organisations
    • the role of individuals in the international legal system
  • Students will also learn a variety of legal-specific research skills through our Legal Research Skills and Methods module.
  • Students can create your own specialised programme of study that matches their legal interests and career aspirations. Students can choose from a wide range of optional modules to complement their core studies, including:
    • the role of law in international affairs
    • diplomacy and dispute settlement
    • human rights law
    • international crime
    • the protection of foreign investment
