The teaching is by lectures, practical sessions, seminars and personal supervision. It uses expert staff based in the School of Marine Science and Technology. You choose from a variety of naval architecture related topics for your dissertation using the research strengths of the School. Subjects include:

  • hydrodynamic performance
  • production and/or ship structures

More diverse subjects will be considered on a case-by-case basis. You also benefit from taking part in projects sponsored directly by industry partners whenever they are available.

Delivery

Seven taught modules worth 100 credits are delivered through semester one and/or two. A dissertation research project, worth 80 credits, is undertaken across the three semesters.

The course is also available with a preliminary year if you do not meet the entry criteria for the one year MSc course.
