Your degree will cover areas such as:
  • engineering geology principles and applications
  • site investigation, testing, interpretation and reporting processes
  • analysing diverse geological evidence to assess hazards and risks arising from natural and man-made phenomena
  • geotechnical design

By studying at Newcastle you undertake research with students from civil engineering, geological and other scientific backgrounds. Cross-pollination of academic training and experience is actively encouraged.

Delivery

You will study compulsory modules with a choice of optional modules in blocks of one or two weeks. Assessment is by formal written examinations, course work and oral presentations.

You will write up your research project as a dissertation. A full range of teaching methods are used on the course:
