Our course develops your expertise in areas where power engineers are in demand such as smart grids, micro-generation and renewable energy.
You'll develop an understanding of the technical, industrial and economic challenges of designing and manufacturing modern electrical power devices. Combining theory and practice, youÕll learn how to use advanced technologies to conceptualise, design and operate power and energy systems. Group and individual projects give you the chance to work on specialist topics like smart metering, electrical drives, or advanced signal processing.
The technical, teamwork and management experience you gain will prepare you for a career in the power industry. Our partnership with the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) Power Academy gives you access to scholarships and placements with top companies.
Choosing the MEng route gives you a more in-depth study experience through advanced taught units and semester-long individual and group project work. It also gives you the educational requirements you need to become a Chartered Engineer.
We work with industrial partners to make sure our course content reflects the needs of engineering industries. YouÕll graduate with the technical expertise and transferable skills that will open up employment opportunities for you. You can pursue a career in high-technology industries in electronics, power, aerospace, communication, robotics or manufacturing. Or you could find employment in other sectors such as IT, financial services, accountancy, the armed forces or business.
