In the first year of your Pure Mathematics BSc youÕll build a solid foundation across all areas of mathematics, discovering a new world of concepts and ideas while studying pure, discrete, decision mathematics, probability and statistics.

From your second year youÕll concentrate on algebra, geometry and analysis. YouÕll encounter new kinds of mathematical objects and investigate their common features and abstract natures, focusing on the intrinsic beauty of pure mathematics more than real-world applications. In your second and third study years you'll have the freedom to choose from a mix of compulsory modules and options, allowing you to focus on the aspects of pure mathematics that most interest you.

You can complete your Pure Mathematics degree in three or four years. If you choose to do a year abroad, this will take place in Year 3, and Year 3 modules will instead be studied in Year 4.
