Taught by a team of internationally recognised academics, the programme examines the history and culture of Britain, Europe and the Islamic World during the Middle Ages, exploring medieval religious cultures, the place of women and minorities in medieval society, and the history of the Crusades.

Your first year will introduce you to the diversity of the Middle Ages and to the full range of sources used by historians, including non-written evidence such as archaeological material. You will then have the freedom to shape your own studies from a comprehensive range of medieval, early modern and modern options, such as the Norman Conquest, Convent Life in Renaissance Europe and Building the American Nation.
