The main difference between this Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages programme and the MA TESOL is that on the MEd, the critical study must have a practical orientation, focusing on a professional issue in TESOL education and allowing you to apply what youÕve learned to real-life problems.
YouÕll also study at the University of Leeds the approaches and principles underlying effective TESOL teaching, develop your skills in describing language in terms of sounds, words, grammar and discourse and think about how you can analyse a learnerÕs language to understand their proficiency. Optional modules will allow you to explore topics that suit your interests and career plans.
Taught by highly experienced TESOL professionals in one of the UKÕs biggest language education departments, youÕll gain the skills and confidence to advance your career in TESOL education.
The Language Education team in the School of Education is nationally and internationally recognised for its range of teaching, research, knowledge transfer and consultancy work in TESOL, ELT, EFL, ESOL, EAL, Modern Foreign Languages, and Applied Linguistics.
