Specialist routes: Creative Writing or English Language
Interested in creative writing? We offer a Creative Writing Route through this degree in which you take the 'Creative Writing 1 and 2' option modules in Year 1; then in your second year you can choose to replace two of the listed modules with modules in 'Using StoriesÕ and ÔResearch, Reflection and ReviewÕ; before moving onto a range of creative writing options in your final year.
Or is the study of language your passion? The English Language Route includes the two first year English Language option modules ('Studying Language' and 'Describing Language'); then in Year 2 you can choose to accompany the 'Old English' module with a module in 'Sociolinguistics' in lieu of one of the others - followed by language options in your final year.
If you would like to keep your options open, donÕt worry. You can take the Creative Writing or English Language option in your first year and still opt to focus on literature from Year 2.
