In the Social Policy and Sociology programme from the University of Leeds youÕll investigate the dynamics between individuals and wider society and how they impact on one another. Bridging big ideas and practical problems, youÕll study important thinkers and theories in sociology alongside issues like social integration, power and class divisions.
At the same time, youÕll explore how poverty, health, housing, education and crime among others have come to be seen as social problems and examine education, housing and urban policies to understand how states provide for peopleÕs welfare.
Drawing on the diverse research interests within the School of Sociology and Social Policy, youÕll also shape the course to suit your interests by choosing from the wide range of optional modules on offer Ð you could focus on gender, drug policy, crime, racism and ethnicity studies among many others.
