In the Fine Art with Contemporary Cultural Theory course from the University of Leeds, you combine studio practice and the study of contemporary philosophy, theories of the image and the gaze, and the relationship between art and society. You think about questions of gender, sexuality and cultural difference. You work with artists and theorists on current issues such as ecology, science, cities, place, power and conflict.
By making art in tandem with thinking about its cultural context, this course offers you a chance to develop your art practice in response to modules covering related fields like music, literature, philosophy, history, film. It also develops skills in presentations, public speaking, research and writing.
This degree prepares you for a career in the arts sector, in education and the cultural and media industries.
