The BSc Oral Science, Dental Surgery MChD/BChD course at the University of Leeds is the first dental undergraduate programme in the UK to a Masters level qualification and a BSc Oral Science at the end of five years study.
The dual qualification recognises that the student has successfully completed the training stipulated by the General Dental Council to qualify as a dentist, it is also identifies the student as a graduate who has the skills and attributes of a Masters student and qualities highly sought by employers.
Our forward-thinking syllabus focuses on the integration of science with clinical dentistry, personal and professional development and self-directed learning. Features include early clinic exposure in the first year of study; an emphasis on research, project management and critical thinking; and highlights the importance of communications and leadership skills while working as part of the dental team.
We are known for a friendly atmosphere and good staff-student relations. Every student is allocated a personal tutor and there is student representation on all Student Education committees. Year on year, national student surveys rate the School highly for overall satisfaction, our learning resources and the level of academic support provided.
