Taking your knowledge and practice to the next level, you will examine the role of different pedagogical models in the teaching of physical education and school sport and you will develop a critical understanding of contemporary curriculum practice in these areas.

At this course at you will study three core modules, two elective modules, one research module and a major independent research study/dissertation. For your dissertation you are encouraged to research in detail an area of physical education that is of particular interest to you, providing the opportunity to focus on your career path.

Suitable for practising physical education teachers or sports coaches, this course is also an ideal stepping stone onto a PGCE if you are interested in becoming a physical education teacher and have a related undergraduate degree with extensive experience working with children and young people, or have ambitions to progress your studies and expertise to PhD level.

There is an increasing need for highly qualified physical education specialists to work with children and young people within schools and the wider community. As well as being able to pursue or enhance a career in physical education, your expertise will leave you well placed to take up opportunities in sports club administration, with governing bodies, in community sport and in higher education.
