Geology and earth sciences bring together aspects of chemistry, physics, geography and mathematics. These subjects increase our understanding of the planet we live on by the study of the past and the present as a key to future changes.

This course focuses on understanding the occurrence of petroleum (oil and gas). It has, as a basis, the study of a dynamic Earth Ð the ways in which our physical environment was created, and the patterns of change that continue to alter the world around us. The Petroleum Geology programme is offered at the Royal Holloway University of London.

Although it shares much of its content with our BSc Geology, on this course you will focus on the geology of petroleum. It is ideal preparation for a career in the extractive hydrocarbon industries and combines theory and practice with extensive field work.
