Geology has a major role to play in helping communities manage environmental events such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, as well as forming the scientific basis of industries as diverse as oil drilling and diamond mining. Geologists work extensively in the field, visiting some of the world's most impressive landscapes and using sophisticated technologies to map, measure and predict the restless forces of nature.

This Geology course focuses on the dynamic earth Ð the ways in which our physical environment was created, and the patterns of change that continue to alter the world around us. Offered at the Royal Holloway University of London, Geology and Earth Sciences bring together aspects of chemistry, physics, geography and mathematics. These subjects increase our understanding of the planet we live on through the study of the past and the present as a key to future changes.
