- At ARU, our Architectural Technology degree course focuses on the link between building design and production. It gives students the technical understanding to bridge the two.
- Architectural technology has four major themes: technology, design, management, and practice. Studying our university degree course will give them the skills they need to practice successfully in each area, along with a thorough understanding of scientific, technological, and organizational principles. Explore the principles of practice management, rationalized architectural design, and how to lead projects from inception to completion in both residential to commercial areas. They will learn to play a pivotal role in the design and construction process.
- Focusing on the relationships between materials, function, production, and the environment, the course will help them to think about buildings in terms of ‘buildability’, sustainability, and performance. By studying Architectural Technology at ARU, they will learn to appreciate detailed design and production information, including regulatory issues, and how they relate to procurement and contract administration. They will also explore social, legal, and economic considerations.
- As well as this, they will cover business and management, professional practice, and contract administration. This will prepare them to contribute to the running of a successful practice.
- Site visits and study trips will develop their understanding of the sector and connect them with the industry. they will also learn to use practical and digital modeling and testing techniques to turn designs into reality. At our end-of-year Architecture and Planning Exhibition, they will have the chance to display their work to the public.
