During the Geology course from University of Bristol you will learn about the physics, chemistry and history of the earth through examining collectable earth materials such as rocks, minerals and fossils, and using remote sensing techniques such as seismic waves to explore the structure and chemistry of its inaccessible areas.

In years one and two you will gain a firm grounding in earth sciences, building your knowledge to inform your choice of third year options. Recent options have included Oceanography, Economic Geology, Igneous Petrology and Seismology. Your third year also includes an independent mapping project, either in the UK or overseas. In the fourth year a broad range of advanced topics is available and the second half of the year is spent on a major research project.

We have a large geology collection and the ability to measure unique geochemical reactions, giving you a real feel for geology in practice. The course includes over 40 days of fieldwork in the UK and overseas, the cost of which is included in your tuition fee.
