The foundation year gives you the support, knowledge and skills you need to progress. On successful completion, you can move on to theÊChemistry BSc(Hons).

With a strong focus on practical laboratory skills, you will progress from learning about fundamental concepts in chemistry to the latest scientific advances, discovering how the subject can be used to solve issues of global importance.

You will gain hands-on experience in our specialist laboratories with chromatography, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), mass spectrometry, electron microscopy, electroanalysis and many other research techniques. The optional placement year gives you a great opportunity to develop your skills as a chemist and gain valuable work experience.
