The programme has three pathways:

- The Changing Environment
- Agriculture and Rural Environments
Coursework assessments are designed to reflect the outputs of industry, ensuring students develop skills that are desired by employers and are well-prepared for the career. These skills include:
- how to conduct and write an environmental risk assessment
- the valuation of non-market goods and ecosystem services
- team-working skills, by engaging with team-based learning
- drafting policy briefings and tenders
- producing and presenting consultancy reports
- oral presentations
