This is the only full-time BA (Hons) degree programme in Hand Embroidery for Fashion, Interiors, Textile Art in Europe.
The RSN has long established international industry links, which further enhance your learning experience. Immerse yourself in the study of contemporary and traditional hand embroidery and explore creative approaches to visual, design and practice based research.

On this course youÕll be encouraged to develop your own identity as an emerging practitioner within your chosen area of specialism. YouÕll have the opportunity to create portfolio collections of embroidery and to prototype and produce exhibitable works for fashion, interiors and textile art. Study includes gallery/exhibition visits and live projects with lecture and seminar programmes to place textiles in context with your creative practice.
Your third year will be a synthesis of your learning on the course to research and develop a personal collection of works for exhibition alongside your dissertation or critical reflection. Working from an agreed proposal, your Major Project will be original, ambitious and challenging, using concepts and techniques which are at the forefront of your discipline.
The studios at Hampton Court Palace are equipped with a specialist on-site art and design library, textile handling collection and IT suite. RSN degree students also have access to the UCA Campus Gateway facilities.
YouÕll study in small groups with close tutorial support from a staff team of experienced practitioners including Academics, Royal School of Needlework trained Embroiderers and Visiting Tutors.
Thanks to generous supporters, RSN is able to make bursary awards to some of its Hand Embroidery students.
