This new programme will examine the foundations of education in modern society, the processes of human learning, education systems in the United Kingdom and the future challenges of education.

This programme is aimed at individuals with an interest in education; this might include those working with children, young people and adults or those interested in a career within the education sector or related fields, including management, administration and governance. This is a new and unique opportunity to work with experts, whilst receiving continuous academic support in achieving your goals.

Aims

This programme will give you the opportunity to:

  • enable you to understand processes of human learning for individuals, groups and society, and in childhood, adolescence and adulthood
  • give you knowledge of UK education systems, including provision at different stages, and global issues in education
  • examine the foundations of education in modern society, including the social, historical and philosophical underpinnings of education and their relationship to equality and inequality
  • assess the possibilities, opportunities and challenges for the future of education
  • allow you to specialise in education studies; childhood and youth; education management and governance; or lifelong learning.
