I have chosen this college because it is near from my house so that I can do up down without going to hostel and the fees of this college is decided by Punjab government which is very feasible. Otherwise, the similar colleges in this category costs around 5-6 lakhs per year but the same thing can be taught in this college under 2 lakhs only. The admission process of the college is not an easy one. First, you have to qualify an exam called NEET. Then you have to apply for the state counseling for this college under baba Farid university website. If you're from any other state, the total no of seats are only 15. And it's quite difficult for other states students to get admission in this college.
The curriculum of the course is approved by DCI and the exams come from the Baba Farid university. The curriculum includes the subjects of first year that is anatomy, biochemistry, physiology, DADH,etc. Along with this, we also learn subjects from 2nd and 3rd year so that in future the pressure of the subjects will be less and also it will help to be in touch with the subjects like prostho which is very important in dentistry. The practicals also happen, we also do practicals of mbbs cuz dentistry is not just about teeth. The exams which happens time to time boost our confidence before the final one.
The internship starts after the completion of the 4 year course and I have no idea about the stipend given during internship. But I have asked seniors, according to them there is no stipend given but one can learn many clinical skills from working during the internship. There are many skills required for dentist like communication and social skills, different surgeries, tooth extraction, etc and all this is learnt through internship only.
The fee of this college is around 1,65,000 for each year for Punjab state students. If you're from any other state, you have to pay 2,20,000. The registration fee for this college is 5000 only. And it provides scholarships for the students who have scored more than 400 marks in an exam called NEET. The admission is based on the qualification of that exam only. The concussion in fee is given to the reserved candidates (SC/ST).
The campus life of the college is manageable but not very good. As this college is very old. The infrastructure and buildings look rusty. But the facilities provided are good. Very festivals and functions happen from time to time. The freshers party of the college is the best in business, I can't forget that day. There is a library dedicated to dental students only where you can find any book related to dentistry. Our college is also very good in sports activities but the grounds are very small to play sports like cricket, football etc. but overall a good experience.
The faculty of the college is well educated. All the teachers and professors are MDS graduate. They provide us the best education and also practical learning in the college. We got good faculties of anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and DADH in our first year. The exam happens from time to time but the main exams are the final one which happen in the end of the year. In first year, there are 3 three subjects and both theory and practical exams happens for that. The difficulty level is moderate.
