I applied to Ashoka, flame, Ahmedabad, Manipal, symbiosis and OP Jindal. The main factor in choosing Amity over them was the distance from my home and the fee structure, Amity's psychology department is also more known in the industry. I got rejection from Ashoka and Flame. I had reached the interview in both but I feel that I didn't perform well in the interview and didn't meet their criteria hence I was rejected. The Amity Psychology admission process is very easy. they require a 50% percentage in boards and extracurriculars. They don't have a physical interview process or ask for any exams other than board exams. They also take CUET. They take a video interview where you record your answer and send it to them, this is in their portal only so the process is easy. Admission in amity is very very easy.
They have amazing subjects such as sociology, forensic psychology, and disaster management. They are amazing and influenced me to come to AMITY. I feel they do prepare you for real-world applications such as business communications or foreign business language where you even get a certificate to show your skills to potential employers. I wish they had more options for subjects for the 4-year students. I have experienced no problem with the teaching methods. I think the exams are spaced out evenly between each semester but the days between exams are short so it is important to study before.
Stipend is very very rare in psychology internships. Most of the internships are with NGO or student organizations. You can become a teacher to under privileged students or work under a psychologist and handle their paperwork. It is also common to get an internship in hospitals such as IBHAS or Moolchand Hospital. It is easy to work there as amity have a lot of networking with the doctors there.
BA psychology students don't get a placement as you need a Master's in India to get a job in this field, but master's students do get placement into good workplaces such as Tulsi Healthcare or Mom's Beliefs. The employability in psychology from amity is high as the industry in some shape and size are always connected to amity. Amity requirement for placement is at least 6.5 CGPA, but it is important to note that you shouldn't depend on college placement as it is not guaranteed.
the fees slowly increase per semester, it started as 90 thousand then 95 and now it is 1 lakh. the highest it will go is 1.5 lakh. So an average per year should be 2 lakh. There are multiple ways to pay fees: net banking, Axis Bank and on campus. My 1st sem deposit was 112500 which was the security deposit plus fees. If you have gotten good marks in your board exams you can get 50% or even 100% fees. They are very accommodating for people with financial needs. I am not in the hostel but the AC hostel fee is 168000 and a deposit of 15000. Unfortunately, when you give neptel exam you have to pay up to 1000 from your own pocket, if you come under any quota then the fee is lower, sc and st is 500. Psychology has the least amount of fees in amity, but the amenities are lesser than bba or llb, but I think the fees is lower then other private colleges.
Amity has 2 big events, Sangathan which is a sports event and AYF which is the college fest. Sangathan is held around September or October which is around Founders Day. AYF is held in February or March every year. Amity library is one of its best features. It is big and has a lot of books to read from. they also have a digital library to access books or research publications. The classes are technologically equipped with projects in almost every classroom The sports in amity are great. they have a huge swimming pool and shooting club that can be accessed anytime with proper supervision. The clubs in Amity are great. The biggest club in AIPS is the literature club which is pretty active. Students can connect easily and even get along with their seniors. The campus is big and beautiful. This campus is very big on anti-ragging which is emphasised a lot upon.
There is no certain faculty-to-student ratio as it depends on which class or course, I have seen classes where the ratio is 1:100 or 1:20 it depends from class to class. I have had amazing faculty such as Garima Ma'am who was incredibly helpful and supported students who had trouble in class. I also had Dr. Renu Gulati ma'am who was amazing and her classes were really interesting. Luckily, I have not experienced terrible or bad teachers the problems I have had are related to the class schedule or attendance with them. They teach very well and are very qualified. There are 2 university exams every year which is the end of the semester. You are graded from CPA/CGPA. It is very rare for students to fail. There is a government exam we give called NEPTL where we go to an exam centre and give an MCQ-based test. The course curriculum is good but sometimes it feels like you are learning the same thing repeatedly, but other than that they have excellent options.
