My Experience at Uttaranchal University: A Great Mix of Learning and Campus Life

- The beautiful and serene campus, which is not just well- maintained but also equipped with modern amenities. The infrastructure includes a comprehensive library, and well-structured classrooms, all of which contribute to a conducive learning nature.
- The Faculty deserves a special mention for their expertise and dedication. Professors are well-versed in their respective fields and also approachable and willing to assist students outside of regular class hours.
- Social life is vibrant and inclusive. University hosts several events, club activities that cater to diverse interests, allowing students to explore their passions beyond the classroom
Dislikes
- The Variety of Companies and industries represented was somewhat limited. This narrowed scope of options available to students, particularly those looking to enter niche fields.
Remarks :
The Admission form can be filled either online or offline. Eligibility for the course is primarily based on your 12th percentage or CUET entrance exam scores.The application form is easily accessible on the university's official website, and the process includes a nominal application fee. Important dates for the application and entrance exams are clearly listed, making it easy to plan ahead.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The B.com (Hons) in Finance, includes subjects of B.Com curriculum but also includes first 9 subjects of ACCA as well, which not just teach us the basic skills but also give us a Glimpse of an Professional course as well. It reflects to current industry trends and incorporating more practical learning could enhance its relevance. Exams are well-timed and challenging, ensuring thorough preparation for real-world applications.
Internships Opportunities :
Internships are mainly tied with companies like TCS, Wipro and HCL for bulk hiring, in few cases for people with exeptional performance they'll provide them with PPO. Roles include Financial Analyst and Business Development also some Sales and Marketing roles. Students also work on relevent projects and the outcomes are submitted as reports to the course coordinator, providing valuable hands on experience.
Placement Experience :
Placements at my college begin in the 5th semester, allowing students to sit for up to companies. The Placement rate is impressive, ranging from 80-85%, with the top companies like Accenture, HCL, TCS and Wipro frequently visiting the campus. The highest package offered for my course was 8LPA, while median package was 4LPA. DEspite the strong placement, around 15-20 students however chose to pursue further studies.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The total cost of the course is more than 4,00,000, with fees increasing by 10% each year. in the first year, students can avail of a merit-based scholarship, provided they have a high percentage in their 12th grade exams. Additionally, students with a uttarakhand domicile are eligibile for a separate scholarship that applies throughout all three years of the course. This makes the financial burden more manageable, especially for those who meet the merit or domicile criteria.
Campus Life :
The annual cultural fest "Festla", The "Yuva Fest" and the Famous Hackathons of UPCS are highlights, bringinh the campus together each year in march and november. The liberary offers a great selection of books and journals, ehile classrooms are modern and tech equipped, making learning seamless. There's a strong focus on extracurriculars, with plenty of sports and clubs to join.
Faculty :
The faculty is highly qualified, with many holding PhDs or currently pursuing them. The favourable faculty-to-student ratio ensures personalized attention, enchansing the learning experience. professors are approachable and commmited to blending theory with practical application, making them effective mentors. their open-door policy encourages frequent interaction, offering students the support they need both academically and for career guidance.
