- Campus Life and Social Interactions I found the campus environment at SIT Tumkur to be relatively conducive to learning. The spacious grounds and greenery provided a pleasant atmosphere.
- Faculty and Mentorship The faculty at SIT Tumkur is a mixed bag. There are professors who are truly dedicated to their students, offering valuable insights and guidance. Their enthusiasm and expertise were inspiring.
- Infrastructure and Learning Facilities The infrastructure at SIT Tumkur is adequate, but there is room for improvement. The labs are reasonably equipped, but the overall maintenance of buildings and classrooms could be better.
- Curriculum and Personal Development The mechanical engineering curriculum at SIT Tumkur provides a solid foundation. However, there is a need for more industry-oriented subjects and practical exposure.
Dislikes
- Campus Life and Social Interactions - Lack of student engagement: The campus environment, while relatively calm, lacked the vibrancy and enthusiasm often associated with college life.
- Limited opportunities for student-led initiatives: There was a dearth of platforms for students to take ownership of campus activities and events.
- Poor maintenance: The overall condition of buildings and classrooms was unsatisfactory, with outdated facilities and inadequate upkeep. Limited library resources: The library lacked updated textbooks and research materials.
Remarks :
My college demands under 1 lakh KCET ranking which is easy nowadays. The application forms and the detailled are explained by the coordinators present in the college administration section. The coordinators explain all the required information about the reservation and how they can cut off the fees using the reservation quota. The exams are conducted strictly, the questions faced by the students are helpful as the question paper includes questions related to the syllabus only and also questions are asked from the practical application which are conducted in the labs in the ongoing classes. The areas to be more focused are that they don't have systematic approach to help students understand the procedure evaluation which is changed in every semester this might lead to the misconceptions regarding the results for many students.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Evaluation of the Course Syllabus The core mechanical engineering principles are well laid in its curriculum. It had a good depth in thermodynamics, mechanics of materials and fluid mechanics. These were key subjects for laying strong theoretical background in the area. However, a curriculum that is more balanced to focus on practical applications could have been better. On the one hand, while theory was well addressed there were limited opportunities for hands-on experience and real life problem solving. This means that the curriculum could have benefited from more projects related to industry or internships as this would make it more relevant and prepare students for professional roles. It had enough frequency in terms of examinations so as to ensure continuity in evaluating learning progress. However, some aspects varied significantly depending on the difficulty levels. Some of these exams required deep knowledge and understanding while others were straight forward ones.
Internships Opportunities :
Siddhaganga Institute of Technology (SIT) has a reputation for providing ample internship opportunities to students. Core Mechanical Engineering Internships: Automotive Industry: Companies like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, and Mahindra & Mahindra often offer internships in design, manufacturing, and quality control. Manufacturing Companies: Organizations such as L&T, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), and Siemens provide internships in areas like production planning, process optimization, and quality assurance. Energy Sector: Companies in the oil and gas, and power generation sectors offer internships. Consultancy Firms: Firms like Larsen & Toubro (L&T) offer internships in project management, engineering analysis, and feasibility studies. While stipends vary based on the company and role, SIT students have reported receiving stipends ranging from Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 18,000 per month.
Placement Experience :
At the end of 6th semester the placements are held. There are many reputed companies which visit our college since i am from mechanical branch i would like to tell you the companies that visits to our branch some of them include Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd, L and T, Tata consultancy, Mercedes and Benz, Schneider, Alstom and other many companies. Till now the Schneider company has offered the highest package to a student of our branch which is 12 LPA. The Average package is 6 LPA and the lowest would be 3 or 2 LPA which varies every year. 68% of mechanical department students have secured placements. After getting the degree I want to secure a good package and start working in that company and to grow well.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The year-wise fees that I pay is 97000. The tuition fees is 97000, the development fees is 24000, lab fees and registration fees and others includes 3000. My batch mate is paying 47000 per year as he got the admission through the KCET SNQ quota which is caste and income based. Since I am of general category there are no scholarships for us.
Campus Life :
Campus Life Experience Campus life was a mix of academic rigor and social fun. The annual technical fest, 'Technica', typically held in February, was a highlight, showcasing student talent in technology and innovation. The cultural fest, 'Culturals', usually in March, offered a platform for students to showcase their artistic abilities. The library housed a decent collection of textbooks and reference materials, catering to the needs of most students. However, availability of the latest editions could be a challenge. The library's digital resources were limited, impacting research capabilities. Classrooms were generally well-maintained, equipped with basic amenities like blackboards and projectors. A few classrooms had air conditioning, but it was not consistent. Sports and extracurricular activities were diverse, with options for both indoor and outdoor enthusiasts. Cricket, football, and basketball were popular, while clubs for music, dance, and drama catered to artistic interests.
Hostel Facilities :
I am a hostel student and i would recommend Everyone to be a hostel student. The facilities provided here are very good there is no problem of water and electricity which is like the major issue in all other colleges. Registration for the hostel is very easy and affordable as well the fee for hostel is 80000 per year. The only disadvantage of the hostel would be food the local Karnataka student do not have much difficulty but the non kannadiga people have faced difficulty in inculcating with food.
Faculty :
When faculty members are from IIT and NIT backgrounds, it is usually a good indication of quality education. These schools have a reputation for having stringent academic policies, and graduates often have excellent technical skills and research abilities. Faculty Student Ratio And Learning Experience The learning experience is generally enhanced by low faculty student ratio. Students can engage in extensive discussions, ask questions freely and get individual attention with more individual attention. Nonetheless, effective teaching methods such as group work, case studies and interactive sessions can make up of large class sizes even if the ratio is higher. Faculty Credentials And Teaching Approach Such lecturers bring to the classroom strong theoretical base along with problem solving abilities as well. This implies that they possess knowledge depth and research acumen based on their PhD qualifications. However, the effectiveness of instruction goes beyond qualification papers.

Students became eligible for placements after 6th semester. Compared to last year, the results of this year's placement were not good, probably due to the current market scenario. Only a few students got placed in companies this year, and, according to my current knowledge, the highest package received by a student this year was ?36lpa by a Japanese company, and the student is from Civil Engineering. This package is the highest package the college has ever received.

Actually at first I'm interested in medical field but I failed to achieve so my next priority is doing engineering and I choose ECE because it has both software and hardware.As we all known that the ECE is is one of the toughest branch soo I accepted the challenge and I choose ECE.

I can't say exactly but there is a place for improvement, some classes are using up-to-date software and education is the latest tech, but some fields need improvement and update, overall it is good according to me. The course curriculum is good, and teachers complete the syllabus on time.

Placements are very good and are improving more and more....I recently got to know from my python professor that in our cse dept there are like companies like capegmini and phonepe training students for placement and they may select 60 for job...so yeah placements are good there are multiple companies always visiting our campus for placement drives... recently even oracle visited the campus and also conducted an interactive session for 1st and 4th year students how to approach a job
