Admission is through NEET-UG. Overall NEET-UG is not the most difficult exam out there but the sheer mass of people (around 20L every year) giving the exam makes every single mark very valuable. Even small mistakes can cost a lot so I would suggest preparing from 11th onwards itself. I passed NEET 2023 with 686 marks and All India Rank of 985. The cut-off for general category was somewhere around 1200, and cut-off lists with category can be found online. Generally speaking cut-off is very high, as is to be expected with an AIIMS college. AIIMS Nagpur is in the top 5 AIIMS currently in India and this could also increase it's cut-off in coming years. I am writing this review right after NEET 2024 results which have completely unbalanced the rank-mark system but overall keep in mind you will need a very high mark and rank to gain admission.
Course curriculum is taught in such a way as to emphasize the clinical importance of every topic. All of the most important topics are the most common medical ailments presenting to the OPD. This is very useful because it prepares you for your job as a doctor.
College requires 1 year of mandatory internship as part of MBBS 5.5 Yr curriculum but there is no bond after that. Even before this, there are medical postings from 2nd year where you learn in the OPD. During the 1 Yr you go around to all the departments and learn how to treat patients with many different kinds of ailments. This is very helpful for many obvious reasons and trains from the 2nd year itself to eventually perfect your craft.
Total fees for 5 years is Rs. 5856, out of which Rs. 1000 is a security deposit and will be returned after course completion. Many scholarships are also available for EWS, OBC, etc. students which college will themselves help to get. Fee of Rs. 650 is required for writing professional exams. Mess fee is separate and is charged by the catering service for Rs. 4300 per month. No other MBBS college in India other than the AIIMS' provide such low fees without any strings attached.
So campus life with your friends will always be a good experience as long as you have a good friend group around you. Within the campus itself there are facilities such as Foosball, TT, Badminton and other sports to play. There is also a music room you can access provided you have the qualification for it. Overall, though, cultural life is lacking and many of the clubs have been inactive for the most part of the year and only coming in during the cultural fest. Though there is a football/cricket ground, basketball and badminton courts, TT tables etc., their quality isn't the best and definitely needs improvement. However the new student council which has been elected in is promising and has already renewed some things such as bringing back movie screenings in the auditorium. I will give it a 5 for now though because compared to other established colleges there is a lot to be desired.
Faculty members are all top of their respective fields and are very knowledgeable on their topics. Most have their own pros and cons and their own specialties but overall their experience and knowledge of the subject matter are excellent. Teaching methods vary across the board but most use power points to teach the topics which may not be to everyone's taste but you will still be able to follow.
