Likes
- The university’s atmosphere for academics is really good. People are passionate towards their work and all the facilities to shape the requisite skills.
- The focus on co-curricular and extra curricular is also really admirable.
- The faculty is really experienced and admirable. Very supportive and encouraging.
Dislikes
- It’s location as it is really far from the city but fortunately the university provides bus series for the students on alternate days which makes things easier.
- The infrastructure and accommodation crisis.
- The study modules provided has a lot of scope for improvement.
Remarks :
To get into any National Law University for pursuing law one has to give the CLAT examination organised by the CLAT Consortium every year. It is one of the most difficult entrance exams right after you complete your high school. The usual eligible rank differs every year but a score of above 100 out of 150 will land you a good law school. The exam usually takes place in december which becomes an ideal time for those who want to give the exam in their 12th std itself as they don't have their boards and can later focus on their boards in the remaining three months.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum is also very well designed and keeps getting changed every now and then for more efficiency. There are five subjects every semester and each one of the subject is very interesting and crucial for interpreting all the larger topics .
Internships Opportunities :
The university usually recommends the top rankers of the class for internships at various law firms across the country like Khaitan , Trilegal , Saraf and Partners and many more such when you are in the third year. Selection is subjective . Before that you indulge in private internships with lawyers of district and high courts and even supreme court.
Placement Experience :
Campus placements usually starts with the fourth year of college. Many known and reputed law firms hire students from the university. The highest package comes around 20 lpa and average is around 15-16 lpa. The competition for placements is a little high and a lot of students opt for higher studies that is why the percentage may seem low at first but taking in account all the other factors, it is decent.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
There is a notion that fee structure of NLUs is relatively high which is unfortunately indeed true. The fee structure is available on the university's official website. It isn't that affordable for a lot of people but people do take eduation loans and the eligible category do receive national and state scholarships as well.
Campus Life :
The university has a number of diverse and interesting social groups for different fields of academia like labour law , corporate law , parliamentry studies and many more of such sort. The university also has a pro bono legal aid clinic which aims at assisting people with their legal issues. Various sports and cultural societies are also present . This university gives you a lot of opportunities to grow with a big campus and decent infrastructure for academia , sports and in general too.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel facilities are decent too. The hostels are well built and maintained. The sanitation is not compromised. The room comes with a bed, a study table and an almirah with good windows for ventilation and sun. In summers you can even rent a cooler to beat the heat and the mess food is also decent . It's not too bad and not too good either.
Faculty :
The faculty is very approachable and well qualified. They do possess exceptional knowledge in law. The teacher's approach to teaching is also very positive. They always try to resolve doubts in or even after classes with appointments. The teachers are very cooperative and support the students in every way possible.
