If you're considering attending TAPMI, there are some rules and regulations you should be aware of. Here's what you need to know:

  • In the past, a 100% attendance record was required, and you couldn't take night-outs or skip classes without a medical certificate from KMC, Manipal. However, the attendance rule has been relaxed, and you can take night outs if you get permission from the warden. If you need to miss class due to illness, you can submit a medical certificate from the in-house nurse.
  • There are still some strict rules that you need to follow. You must be inside the campus by 11.30 PM every day unless you have taken a night out. Smoking and drinking on campus are not allowed, and you must be on time for your classes.
  • To be promoted to the second year, you must maintain a minimum of 4.4 CGPA.
  • While all this might seem intimidating, there are plenty of opportunities to have fun. The campus celebrates all major Indian festivals, and there are lots of DJ nights, sports competitions, committee parties, class parties, and FAS group parties to enjoy. Plus, there are section wars and a great friend circle to help you get through the two years.

I have a friend who is an alumnus of TAPMI. Here is his experience.

  • 100% attendance is mandated. In any case of medical emergencies, you are expected to provide a medical certificate as an evidential document from somebody with a rank of assistant professor, or above from the KMC. In case of non-approved leaves, you will get a sub-grade for the subject. This will affect your CGPA.
  • Entering the campus by 11.30 P.M. is compulsory. You need to sign a register with the timings of your arrival and departure.
  • It is strictly residential. You are permitted to visit your home only during term breaks. You are not allowed to visit untimely occasions organized in your home.
  • There are no vehicles allowed for students of the first year. In addition, second-year students have to pay a hefty parking fee.

Despite anything other than that, TAPMI is a reputed place to pursue your career. Hope this clears any doubt you had.
