IIT Guwahati campus offers hostel facilities for both boys and girls. Boys hostels can accommodate as many as 400 students while girls hostels have the capacity of 100. 

• Double sharing rooms will be allocated to undergraduate freshers where they have to share common toilets and bathrooms. 
• Second-year onwards students are given single rooms with attached toilets. Students even can install their own AC if required but have to pay their individual electricity bills separately.
• There is 24/7 high-speed WiFi service in all the hostels. Other facilities like laundry, mess and study rooms are also available. There are a total of four lifts at each hostel.
• The quality of food given at the hostel mess is pretty decent. You have to pay an extra 4,000 per month for food. There is a fixed weekly menu for the food.
• Mess food caters to the needs of both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. For non-vegetarians, chicken and eggs are given thrice a week and fish once a week. 
• Students availing of on-campus accommodation facility must pay 12,500 as hostel fee per semester. Mess fee of 4000 will also be collected from them at the end of each month. 

Since the intake of students is increasing there is quite a high demand for hostel seats. Only if you are lucky enough, you will get to stay in a single room all by yourself. The facilities offered at IIIT Guwahati hostels are pretty good compared to any other institutes. As the infrastructure is new, hostels are safe and hygienic.
