The hostels of Amity University Kolkata are pathetic with no good facilities that might improve the standards of living. The fees are as high as 90k every year, which does not even include food expenses. The food served here is only veg with no non-veg cuisine.
The warden too is very uncooperative and lacks empathy. The rules here are followed strictly and any carelessness on the part of students is taken care of with great discipline. Students are not allowed to eat chicken or even use kettles.
On weekends, students can go out of the campus only for an hour or so. A day's leave requires permission from various concerned persons and is a tedious process. The rules are even more strict for girls who have to return at 5 pm. There are hundreds of formalities after which you will be allowed to go. I would recommend you rent a flat if you want to make your stay a bit flexible and experience the freedom of college life.
Amity University, Kolkata hostels are well-equipped and offers the basic amenities to the students. The hostel facilities are good compared to the other private colleges in the state. The hostel fees are around 1 lakh per year excluding the mess and security fees.
Hostel rules are strict. If you want freedom, choose ranted accommodation outside of college. There are rented flats available closer to the campus.
You will most probably not have a great hostel life at Amity University Kolkata. In my friend’s experience, it is not a humane experience staying at the Amity hostels at all.
In case you want to stay out beyond the designated time, you will have to email your parents, call them, show their phone numbers to the warden, fill up an outpass, and only then you can go. Even then, you will be put through a question-answer session where they can ask absurd questions which could be a breach of privacy.
My advice to you would be to think twice before planning on staying at the hostel here. Your life will be miserable.
