For how many marks is the BITS HD exam and what is the difficulty level of the exam compared to the GATE exam?
Posted On - Jan 8, 2021The total marks for BITS HD are 150. The examination has three sections, test 1, test 2, and a special test. Test 1, test 2, and the special test have 90 marks, 210 marks, and 150 marks, respectively.
Compared to GATE, BITSHD isn’t too difficult. Scoring decent marks is easy with specific preparation. Unlike GATE, most questions in BITS HD aren’t conceptual. The paper includes theoretical questions as well.
From 2017, the exam pattern has been changed and the total marks of the exam are 300.
Exam Pattern:
The exam consisted of 2 papers.
- Paper 1 consisted of questions from English and Mathematics. The total marks are 90.
- Paper 2 consisted of questions specific to the Technical branch. The total marks for the same are 210.
Difficulty Level:
- The BITS HD exam is not that difficult. You can easily secure a good score if prepared from the viewpoint of the exam.
- In contrast to the GATE, all the questions in the BITS HD are not conceptual. The questions are rather easy and theory-based.
In the year 2017, one of my friends scored 131 out of 300 and got ME in Embedded systems at BITS, Pilani. She faced some difficulty in the technical paper. In undergraduate her subject was Electrical and that year most of the question on the technical paper was from core Electronics.
BITS HD examination is not that similar to the GATE examination. Many of my classmates from different branches who hardly qualified for the GATE examination got a good score in the BITS HD exam. It is all about the Exam specific preparation.
