How's the placement in chemical engineering at IIT BHU for an M.Tech?
Posted On - Aug 13, 2020The placement statistics for MTech Chemical Engineering at IIT BHU are average at best. In recent years, the median CTC received by the students of this branch was 15 LPA. There are very few core companies visiting the campus placements for Chemical Engineering. This is the case for other IITs as well. Some of the recruiters that offered placement opportunities to M.Tech Chemical Engineering students in past are Deloitte, Amazon, American Express, Google, etc.
Academic wise IIT BHU is great, it offers good exposure as well. But if you are expecting whopping placement packages, you will be disappointed.
The placement trends in chemical engineering at IIT BHU for M. Tech students are not very impressive. The major reason for being, many core companies are not open to placement for M.Tech students. The major recruiters for chemical engineering students are Reliance and BPCL but these companies were not open for M. Tech students in the past years. In the year 2018 Dow chemicals were open for M. Tech students. Also, very limited companies in the non-core sector like software, data analysis, finance, operations, etc are open for M. Tech students decreasing the placement trends. Since many big software giants are also not open for M. Tech students the average package is low. Placements in chemical engineering for M.Tech students in the top five IITs like IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Roorkee are much better than that of IIT BHU since more core companies visit these colleges. As far as academics are concerned, the faculty is great but some changes in the academic curriculum are required. IIT BHU also offers a huge alumni base and a very vibrant culture. But if academics are the priority then IIT Hyderabad and IIT Gandhinagar are also good options but placement wise IIT BHU is better than these IITs.
