Which is better among SITM (Pune) and SIOM (Nashik)?
Posted On - Jun 23, 2021SIOM Nashik is better than SITM for Operations. It offers better industry exposure. The institute organizes many industry visits around the academic year. SIOM also offers various useful certifications, besides traditional academics.
Another reason for choosing the institute is the curriculum and course content. The course work helps most students of the institute to convert summer internships into PPOs at big companies. During SIOM Nashik placements 2021, the number of PPOs offered was 25. The average CTC for the institute is around INR 11.77 LPA.
My cousin had the same doubt a few months back, but he chose SIOM over SITM and these were a few of the reasons for his choice:
- SIOM is completely for operations whereas SITM is for telecommunications.
- If you look into the curriculum, you will find that it gives a variety of subject offerings into other domains
- SIOM offers more insights into the industry with several industrial visits and few certifications like Six Sigma green belt and APICS CPIM.
- Doing Operations Management work will fix a horizontal but having a degree in telecommunication management specifically structures the vertical itself and it’s very difficult to switch industries thereon.
- Even after being an operations-dependent college, the college gives exposure to statistics and analytics a lot with exposure to tools like SPSS, MINITAB, R - programming, etc.
These were a few of the points that my cousin considered for his decision. However, when he went to SIOM, he found a lot more reasons to have chosen SIOM in terms of exposure and many other factors.
According to him, the only negative feature about the college is that it has a pretty small campus and few of the faculty members can be better. However, it completely depends upon the individual on how he/she would like to explore all the opportunities provided.
