XIM University PhD Admission 2023: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the requirements listed below in order to be deemed eligible for PhD study in the specific schools at XIM University, Bhubaneswar.

  • Master's or equivalent degree in any discipline, with a minimum of 60% in the Master's level, is required for admission to the Xavier Institute of Management.
  • School of Human Resource Management: a. Full-time Postgraduate or Master's Degree in Human Resource Management, Psychology, Personnel Management, Labor Welfare, Industrial or Employment Relations, or Business Management from any AICTE or UGC-approved university with at least 55% overall. OR
  • b. Master's or equivalent degree with UGC NET qualification in subjects like business management, psychology, human resource management, personnel management, labour welfare, industrial or employment relations, or psychology, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 55%.OR
  • c.a master's degree with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 60% in any other discipline from an AICTE or UGC-approved school.
  • School of Rural Management : Master’s degree in any discipline or equivalent.
  • School of Human Settlements : an advanced degree in any field. It may be necessary for those from the disciplines not listed here to complete additional courses.
  • Master's degree or equivalent in business administration, management, planning, urban design, urban development, architecture, sustainability, geography, public policy, political science, public administration, governance, engineering, technology, public health, and all related specialisations of the above are required for the Ph.D. in urban management and governance.
  • Master's degree or its equivalent in planning, architecture, urban design, urban development, geography, economics, sociology, or any other related field is required for PhD-level study in planning.
  • School of Sustainability : a Master's degree or an equivalent in any field with a minimum of 60% at the Master's level.
  • School of Commerce : any discipline, master's degree or equivalent, with a minimum of 60% in the master's level.
  • School of Communications : Master's degree in journalism, visual communication, communication, electronic media, new media, fine arts, advertising, public relations, broadcast communication, film studies, English language, and literature, OR a professional degree in the communication stream recognised as equivalent by the relevant statutory regulatory body.
  • Computer science and engineering school: M. Tech. / M.E. / MBA / MS with a B.Tech in computer science, computer engineering, or information technology. / Master Degree in computer science, computer engineering, electronics, telecommunications, or data science.
  • Xavier Law School : L.L.M. Degree (regular mode) from a recognised university with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 55%.

XIM University PhD Admission 2023: Application Process

  • For the Doctoral program(s), applicants must complete a separate online application at www.xim.edu.in.
  • The applicant will receive an email confirmation after submitting the online application successfully and paying the application processing cost.

Selection Process

  • The academic records and SOPs of the candidates will be used to narrow the field of candidates. The selected candidates will have to go through the XIM Research Aptitude Test (X-RAT), a subject test (if necessary), a presentation, and a personal interview.
  • according to the modes chosen and communicated. On our website, there are different pages dedicated to X-RAT information. Candidates will be exempt from X-RAT if they have qualified for UGC NET-JRF within three years (measured from the date that the relevant scores were issued and the last date that applications were accepted for the programme). They will, however, participate in the other selection procedures mentioned above. The chosen individuals' coursework is anticipated to start in June 2023.

XIM University PhD Admission 2023: X-RAT Exam Pattern

  • The Research Aptitude Test, or X-RAT, is administered by XIM University as a requirement for admission to the Ph.D. programme.
  • The test is used to evaluate certain fundamental abilities thought to be important for researchers, including writing ability, verbal ability and comprehension, reasoning, and numerical aptitude.
  • The test is divided into four components (A, B, C, D). Section A is given 30 minutes, Section B 40 minutes, Section C 40 minutes, and Section D 40 minutes (for a total of 150 minutes) of time.
  • The test carries a 100-point maximum score and has a 2-hour, 30-minute time limit.
  • There is a mixture of subjective and objective question kinds.

XIM University PhD Admission 2023: How to Apply?

Step 1: Register and Apply for the Entrance Exam

  • Applicants are required to appear for one or more of the following Admission Tests after registering for them: XAT 2023 to be conducted by XLRI, Jamshedpur, on January 08, 2023; CAT 2022 by IIMs on November 27, 2022; GMAT taken in 2021 or 2022; NMAT by GMAC 2022 (for select programs).
  • In case the applicant does not register and appear in any of the above entrance exams. He/she can appear for X-GMT 2023 to be conducted by XIM University on January 29, 2023.
  • Please note that registering for XAT/CAT/GMAT is a prerequisite for applying to XIM University, if not opting for X-GMT which will be held on January 29, 2023. An applicant may apply to X-GMT on the same application form against the academic programs by paying the test fee (₹1200/-).

Step 2: Apply to XIM University

  • After registering for XAT/CAT/GMAT/NMAT, applicants must fill up the online application form separately available on the XIM University website https://apply.xim.edu.in.
  • Upon successfully filling out the online application form and paying the application fee (₹1600/- for the first option, and ₹400/- each for the subsequent options), applicants will be intimated by email about the acceptance of the form.
  • Use a single form for applying for multiple programs and/or through multiple tests.
