West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEE) has opened the portal to refund the fee of students who had filled the application form of Presidency University Bachelor's Degree Entrance Test (PUBDET). Students who had applied for the test can now claim their refund as the portal is open now.
The PUBDET exam which is conducted by the WBJEE was canceled due to the outbreak of the covid-19 virus. The demand for a refund of the fee of INR 500 was made by the Independents Consolidation (IC) and Students' Federation of India (SFI) controlled Presidency University Students Union.

Earlier, a notice was released by the WBJEE to intimate the students of the refund of the application fee. The notification said that the board will shortly arrange for the refund of the application fee to all the students who had filled the form.
The PUBDET exam and counselling for 2020 was canceled by the board due to the situation brought by the unprecedented covid-19 virus.
Mimosa Ghorai, the Presidency University Students Council (PUSC) president and her office-bearer had earlier sent a letter to the WBJEE chairman. In the letter, they mentioned that even though the cancellation notice was released on August 13, there was no news regarding the refund of the application fee.

The letter further said that such a thing from a state board was unacceptable, especially in such economically hard times. As such, they made a demand that a notice regarding the refund of the application fee be released as soon as possible. They argued that while the amount may not be that great, every bit counted, especially for students belonging to weaker sections of the society.
The Independents' Consolidation in another statement said that following the movements organized by them, the WBJEE board has finally issued a notice regarding the refund of the fee.
A university source said that the total amount of INR 500 will be refunded in the bank account of the students and the students will be notified of the deposit. The refund will be made in the same bank account from which the amount was deducted and there is no provision to change the beneficiary.
