Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) will now introduce a biology course for engineers from the current academic year, 2021-22.
As per the VTU reports, all the engineering colleges under VTU will offer “Biology for Engineering,” which will be a part of the ‘ability enhancement courses’ under the National Education Policy (NEP).
The new course will be launched for the second-year students too, which will help the students who aspire to pursue engineering programmes under lateral entry.
While talking to a news agency, VTU Vice-chancellor, Karisiddappa stated that during the Covid-19 circumstances, the engineers worked closely with doctors to design medical equipment, using the advanced technology such as artificial neural, which pointed out the need for the biological concepts in the engineering courses.
“With an aim to make the education system more autonomous, the launch of the new subject, Biology, will be considered the first iteration policy,” said VTU VC.
Recently, the VTU upgraded the CSE syllabus, which was notified through an official notification, in which, VTU registrar AS Deshpande said that the Professional Elective Course "Robotic Process Automation Design & Development (18CS745)" in Computer Science and Engineering course has been altered to map with chapter contents of the prescribed textbook.
Furthermore, the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) has decided to offer BSc courses from the current academic year 2021-22 in around 66 affiliated colleges. The admission procedure to the BSc programs will be based on the student's ranks in the Karnataka CET 2021.
Students who have appeared for the Karnataka Common Entrance Test 2021, will be preferred as priority for the BSc courses. Whereas the students who will not appear for the exam will be considered only if the seats are vacant in the B.Sc course.
