Karnataka High Court has received the PIL to withhold the conduct of the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) exam scheduled to be conducted on August 19, 2020.
The Plea was filed by Advocate Abdulla Mannan Khan, prays for the exam to be scheduled after the NEET 2020 and JEE Main 2020 Examination and claims that the examination will turn out to be ‘havoc’ in the COVID-19 crisis.

COMEDK UGET is a state-level exam and is scheduled to be held on August 19, 2020. The entrance exam is conducted by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka.
The plea states that COMEDK 2020 is one of the most important exams as it is the career setting path for thousands of students. Candidates who belong to containment zones will also not be able to travel and appear for COMEDK 2020 exam.
Khan also stated to the HC that the academic future of the students will not be affected if COMEDK UGET 2020 is withheld until JEE Main 2020 and other national level entrance exams are conducted.
Around 70,000 applicants will appear for the COMEDK UGET 2020 exam and the decision to hold the exam will result in putting the students at the danger of COVID-19.
Earlier, Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) had issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on July 29, 2020 stating the guidelines for conducting the examination during COVID-19 Epidemic. It was for the KCET 2020 exam conducted on July 30 and July 31, 2020.
Khan further added that the SOP was vague on various aspects and had many loopholes which resulted in chaos at the test center of KCET.
