The National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Medical Council of India (MCI) on Tuesday presented before the Kerala High Court stating that it was not possible to allot examination centres abroad, including in the Gulf, for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) scheduled for July 26 2020.

Earlier, public interest litigation seeking a directive to sanction examination centres in Gulf countries came up before a Division Bench, following which the submission was presented.

The PIL contends that decision to hold NEET by its conducting body National Testing Agency (NTA) when abroad students are stranded is discriminatory. 

In light of the pandemic, NEET aspirants are finding it difficult to travel internationally. However, the authorities have clearly stated that no exam centres will be allotted abroad.

Furthermore, authorities have also mentioned that the exam will not be conducted in the online mode, the exam will only be conducted in the offline mode. 

As per sources, As many as 16.84 lakh aspirants are going to appear for India’s biggest medical entrance examination which is scheduled to be conducted on July 26, 2020.

Amid the current situation, a section of students and parents have requested for the postponement of the pending CBSE exam, the authorities are expected to announce the fresh dates for the NEET exam after June 25, i.e. after Supreme Court’s hearing on CBSE’s stand on conducting the exam.
