The Apex Medical Regulator of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has filed various applications requesting the Supreme Court (SC) to postpone the deadline of the MBBS superspeciality courses admission because of the delay caused due to the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic. 

According to the present rules, the last date for the admission in MBBS course and MBBS Superspeciality course for the academic year 2020-21 is August 31, 2020.

The entrance examination which will be conducted to provide admission in these courses were postponed and conducted in October 2020 because of the lockdown imposed to restrict the spread of the COVID 19 infection.

The results were announced and the counselling process is going on. Considering the situation, the NMC has filed applications in the Supreme Court requesting to extend the deadline for the admission of MBBS and MBBS Superspeciality courses.

Dr. R K Vats, the Secretary of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has recently issued a public notice stating that the time schedule which was previously provided for the reopening of the medical colleges after the lockdown could not be followed considering the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has filed applications in the Supreme Court for the extension in the deadline for the admission of MBBS and MBBS Superspeciality courses from August 31, 2020, to January 15, 2021.
