The Supreme Court has issued a notice on the petition filed against AIQ(All India Quota) vacated seats under medical NEET PG 2020. The petition was filed for the same in order to direct the Centre declaring the total number of vacancies under AIQ( All India Quota).

The vacancies under medical NEET PG 2020 have actually lapsed due to the non-joining of the shortlisted candidates during the second round of counselling. The final list of the selected candidates was published on July 2,2020.

The petitioner was filed by Adv. Adeel Ahmed who stated that due to the ongoing COVID crisis, the exam results of AIIMS JIPMER and PGIMER Chandigarh were declared on the completion of second round of counselling for NEET PG 2020 held on June 16,2020.

In the petition filed, it was clearly mentioned about the candidates who have already enrolled themselves under AIQ seats of NEET PG 2020. Now, those shortlisted candidates have vacated their seats under AIQ and are in search of better opportunities on joining the AIIMS JIPMER or PGIMER Chandigarh.

A bench comprising Justices A.M. Khanwilkar, Dinesh Maheshwa and Sanjeev Khanna issued notice and listed the matter for further hearing on August 14, 2020.

According to the petition, a total of 3373 AIQ seats have been vacated which are now being returned to the respective state quota for counselling.

This is all because of the ongoing pandemic and the nationwide lockdown imposed across the country which has led to further delay in the declaration of exam results. Therefore, candidates are now being deprived of their AIQ seats under NEET PG 2020 and choosing to opt for JIPMER Pondicherry or PGIMER Chandigarh as the results of these exams have also been declared.

However, the results have already been declared by both AIIMS JIPMER, Pondicherry and PGIMER Chandigarh  Therefore, the whole matter has led to a chaos among the candidates to leave their seats vacant under AIQ for NEET PG 2020.

Consequently, it has led to the non-reporting or non-joining of the candidates under AIQ for NEET PG 2020 and those vacant seats are now being allotted to the state admission committees.
