Several students have taken to social media sites to point out that the responses are different on their individual Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets, which are scanned copies of the answer booklets, and on the recorded response sheet.
At present, NTA accepts challenges from students in the event of a discrepancy until 7 October, although students feel that this option is useless in certain situations.
"In my case, the OMR sheet has incorrectly captured an answer that has not been attempted (no colour bubble on the OMR sheet). The drop down button in the Challenges section does not give me the opportunity to explain my situation”, a student tweeted.
In another case, more than 50 of the responses identified in his OMR sheet are missing from the student's recorded response sheet.
"In order to file a complaint with the NTA, I will have to pay Rs 1,000 per question. In such a situation, how can I challenge 50 questions? ", another student, who has now written directly to the NTA, asked for clarity in his specific case.

This year, after months of delay due to Covid-19 and eventual nation-wide lockdown, NEET-UG took place across the country on 13 September, where more than 15 lakh medical and dental aspirants took part in the exam.
NTA released the paper's answer key on September 26 and accepted the student key challenge between September 27 and 29. Students, however, were upset that their OMR sheets were not released at the same time as last year.
"Students have already raised challenges to at least two questions in the biology section's answer key, and now they have to face challenges to the OMR sheet separately. This is unfair and the NTA should be aware of this matter, "said the parent of one of the applicants.
The challenge window is open until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, and as yet, the NTA has not made any statements regarding allegations of discrepancy in the OMR sheets and the student response sheets.
"The process of challenge is currently underway. We'll only know the queries raised by the students once the challenge window is closed and we're going through the queries, "said Vineet Joshi, NTA's director general.
