New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has been ordered by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) to reevaluate the requirements for JEE Advanced 2023, according to which candidates who appeared for JEE 2021 are not allowed to take the exam.
Many JEE Advanced 2021 applicants, who were qualified to take the JEE Advanced 2022 exam but could not because of the Covid-19 epidemic, are asking for a third compensating attempt in the JEE Advanced 2023 exam.
The Commission stated in a letter to NTA that it has heard from JEE Advanced candidates who claim that 12th graduates of 2021 are not eligible for the IIT JEE Advanced 2023 and are demanding an additional attempt.
Students who took the JEE Advanced 2022 exam said that the questions were magnified by up to 300%, causing them to scroll often and waste time. NCPCR claimed it had also heard concerns about this.
"The Commission has received additional submissions from JEE aspirants stating that, by the JEE Advanced 2023 eligibility requirements, 12th board graduates from the year 2021 are ineligible to take the JEE exam.
The qualifying requirements have been asked to be reviewed and revised to give students a second chance to take the JEE Advanced exam in 2023.
Additionally, it was said in one of the representations that candidates for the IIT JEE (Advanced) 2022 exam had difficulty answering questions because the exams' zoom levels were 300%, requiring them to scroll both horizontally and vertically and wasting significant time.
The Commission said, "The representations are being conveyed to you for prompt necessary consideration in your capacity in the best interest of the children."
The students mentioned a one-time concession offered to 2020 candidates by granting them the third attempt in their representations in the JEE Advanced 2022 exam.
