New Delhi: The National Institute of Immunology (NII), has begun the application process for admission to the PhD programme for the academic session 2022-23. Aspiring candidates can submit the online application form through the official portal, @http://www.nii.res.in/.

NII offers PhD programmes in research areas such as Immunology, Infectious and Chronic Disease Biology, Molecular and Cellular Biology, and Chemical, Structural and Computational Biology. Candidates seeking admission to the PhD programme can submit their applications till January 20, 2023 

Admission to the PhD programme will be done based on the scores obtained in either NII-2023 or JGEEBILS-2023 exams followed by their performance in the interview.

Currently, the NII provides Junior Research Fellowship of Rs.31000/- per month to the selected candidates. Awardees of fellowships from CSIR, UGC, ICMR, DBT or and DST, may avail them as per rules of the respective funding agency.

NII PhD Admission 2022-23: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates seeking admission to PhD programmes will have to meet the requisite eligibility criteria. 

• M.Sc. in any branch of Science (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics) M.Tech., M.B.B.S., M.V.Sc., M.Pharm. or equivalent qualification as per the norms of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi.
• At least 60% aggregate score or equivalent grade in Senior Secondary Certificate (10+2) and Bachelor’s degree and 55% aggregate score or equivalent grade in Master’s degree are essential for the general category. Five percent relaxation in aggregate scores in Senior Secondary, Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees will be applicable for the candidates from reserved categories [(OBC (non-creamy layer; NCL), SC/ST, and PwD]. Rounding off of percentage score to the next integral value is not permitted.
• Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination in the current academic year are eligible to apply; they will be admitted provisionally pending satisfactory fulfilment of the eligibility requirements at the time of joining.
• Reservations of seats: 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, 27% for OBC (NCL) and 3% for person with disability (PwD) as per statutory norms. 

NII PhD Admission 2022-23: Selection Process

Candidate's selection to the Ph.D. programme through the following two rounds:

• Round 1: Computer-based Entrance Examination, NII-2023 to be conducted by NII at multiple centers across India on February 26, 2023 (Sunday).
• Round 2: Joint Graduate Entrance Examination in Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS-2023).
• Candidates must appear in at least one of the two examinations after which they'll be short-listed for an interview based on their scores in either NII-2023 or JGEEBILS-2023.
• The list of candidates short-listed for interviews shall be available on the NII website and Notice Board on or before April 15, 2023.
• Candidates selected will be enrolled for the Ph.D. programme of NII in academic affiliation with JNU, New Delhi.

Step 1: Visit the official application portal of NII @http://www.nii.res.in/ 

Step 2: Register yourself after filling the required details, such as Mobile number, Email Id etc.

Step 3: Now, login with your registration credentials and fill all details in the Application form.

Step 4: Pay the application fee and submit the Application form. 

Step 5: Applicants must also take a print out of the form for all future needs.
