The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Class 10 results were announced on Wednesday and the passing percentage for Maharashtra increased to 95.30 per cent this year.

It is the highest passing percentage of the state in the last decade and the good performance will have an impact on the shortlists of prominent colleges for Class 11 (first year of junior college) admissions in the city.

A total of 15,466 students scored more than 90% of the marks in the Pune division.

"The results of this year's SSC are excellent and will certainly have an impact on Class 11 admissions. The list of admissions will increase by around 5% and students will have to go well in the tests and interviews to get a seat in colleges of their choice. The Office of the Deputy Director of Education (DYDE), Pune, is expected to provide "extra intake" colleges for this year's students. Some colleges were allowed to take 10% more students last year, "said Rajendra Zunjarrao, director of the Modern College of Arts Science and Commerce, Shivajinagar.

Fergusson College principal Ravindrasinh Pardeshi said, “Every student wants to get admission in good colleges. It will be a tough competition to get admission to prominent colleges in the city this year because of record SSC results.”

Deputy director of education, Pune, has started the Class 11 admission process online from July 16, 2020. From August 1, 2020, passed students of Class 10 from any board can fill Part 1 form online.

From a total of 301 junior colleges in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, 1,05,732 seats are available. Till date, more than 57,000 students have registered online for the Class 11 admission.

"While filling in the admission form, students only need to upload a Class 10 record sheet. "If for technical reasons, other documents are not attached to the student during the admission process, then the colleges must take self-declaration from the student and they will be given three months' time. There are enough seats available for students in the Pune division. The Part 2 form filling schedule will soon be announced, "said Meena Shendkar, Assistant Director of Education, Pune.
