New Delhi: College of Arts and Crafts of Lucknow University is considering offering a Master in Textile Design course as part of its master's program to eligible candidates. Until now, the course has been offered at the undergraduate level to interested students.
As per the officials, Lucknow University will consider the option to include the program at the master’s level during an Academic Council meeting on October 14, 2022. If the proposal is approved, students will also be able to pursue a master's degree in this programme.
Professor Ratan Kumar, Principal and Dean of Arts and Crafts College informed that the Bachelor of Fine Art (BFA) in Textile program is currently a self-financing course. As of now, the university offers ten admission seats for this program.
The proposal for offering a Master's degree (MFA) in Textile Design was authorised during a Faculty Council meeting held a while back. It has now been submitted for clearance to the Vidya Parishad.
In addition to this, the college's craft department has launched diploma courses in furniture design, metal design, and wood carving. It is currently being upgraded by the Department of Craft and Design. The proposal for the same has also been submitted further for approval.
Additionally, the proposal to start a part-time MTech course under the Faculty of Engineering will be discussed during the Academic Council meeting. After getting the consent, candidates can pursue a part-time Master of Technology from Lucknow University.
