Union Education Ministry has confirmed to conduct JEE Main and NEET 2020 in September 2020 as scheduled. The Secretary of Education Ministry stated while speaking to media that the national level Exams will not be postponed any further. Adding to this, NTA also made a press release confirming that the two exams would be held as scheduled. JEE Main Admit card has already been released on August 17, 2020, and NEET 2020 Admit Card is going to be issued by the last week of August 2020.

Previously, Subramanyam Swami raised a concern and wrote a letter to the ministry about the difficulties of students and parents to reach the exam centre. He mentions with the example of Mumbai city where candidates will have to commute for 20-30 km to attend the exam in a condition when no public transport is available. He states that this situation can lead to big desperation and distress among the youth.
Subramanyam Swami concluded his letter stating, Government can overrule the Supreme Court decision under such adverse condition, and schedule the exam after Deepavali. However, the Ministry of Education, within a couple of hours responded that the exam will be conducted as scheduled in September ignoring, Subramanyam Swami’s concerns.
JEE Main 2020 Scheduled to be conducted from September 01 – 06, 2020, while NEET 2020 will be conducted on September 13, 2020. The National Level exams are very crucial for students career and therefore Government is not in a state of postponing the exams.
In a press release on August 21, 2020 NTA published a notice confirming that the two exams would be held as scheduled with every precaution and standard operating procedures would be followed. NTA stated, “…the examination is going to be held with due precaution and it is not going to be postponed. Thus, we find no merit in the writ petition.”.

Backing up their stance to hold the exams as scheduled, NTA argued that for the first time students were allowed to change their exam centers five times. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, a large number of students changed their City Centers as allowed by NTA. 661,911 JEE Main 2020 candidates while 95,000 NEET 2020 candidates availed this service and have been allotted the City Center of their choice.
NTA further stated that based on the Guidelines for Conduct of examinations communicated by MHRD, NTA has made elaborate arrangements for sanitizing and maintaining all the safety measures for the conduct of these entrance exams. According to NTA, 99.07% of the total 8.58 lakh JEE Main 2020 candidates have been allotted the first choice of their center city. Similarly for NEET 2020, of the 15,97,433 candidates, 99.87% have been allotted the first choice of center city.
