At the time of hearing, Paranjpe said that admission will be as per the decision of the top court based on the plea submitted by the student.
Earlier, the plea was dismissed at the Bombay High Court. Following which the student approached the apex court. Bombay High Court dismissed the case citing it could not intervene in the admission process when the seats were filled for all the courses at IIM Bombay and admission rules need to be followed.
As a fact, Bombay High Court asked the student to apply for JEE Advanced in 2021 again. However, the High Court had earlier approached the IIT to reconsider Siddhant;s case for interim admission.
Siddhnat appeared in JEE Advanced 2020 and scored All India Rank (AIR) of 270. He submitted his plea stating he had accidentally clicked on the wrong link which led him to exit the counselling process despite the fact that he wanted to freeze the seat.
The Division bench of Bombay High court dismissed the case on November 23, 2020, stating that IIT had considered his case and passed a judgement.
In his petition, Siddhant had requested to consider his case on humanitarian grounds and allot him a seat to undo his loss of one academic year despite having high scores in JEE Advanced 2020.
