Indian Institute of Management, Nagpur inaugurated the Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship program for 38 MGN Fellows for Maharashtra and Sikkim on Monday, October 25, 2021. The Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship in association with IIMN is granting the fellowship. The MGNF Phase-II program is assisted by the World Bank-assisted SANKALP scheme.

Shri. Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister for Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship launched MGNF Phase II earlier on Monday, October 25, 2021. The MGNF program is currently being hosted by nine IIMs, IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Jammu, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Lucknow, IIM Nagpur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Udaipur, and IIM Visakhapatnam.

The fellowship is a two-year blended program consisting of classroom sessions at IIM Nagpur. It is an exclusive prospect to endorse skill planning and development in district economies. It is a blended program with both academic and district field immersion modules. 

The candidates undergoing the fellowship program will be trained in the design and management of effective skilling, training, and employment ecosystem in the country.

Dr. K P Krishnan IAS (Retd) and former Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, delivered the inaugural address during the function.

He mentioned the significance of the fellowship program in laying the foundations of the skill development ecosystem in India.

Dr. Bhimaraya Metri- IIM Nagpur Director, addressed the event. He guaranteed full support for the 38 MGN Fellows during the program from the side of IIM Nagpur. Mr. Puneet Pushkarna- BoG member and General Partner of Solmark Singapore, Programme Directors, MGNF at IIM Nagpur, Prof. Vidhula Venugopal, and Prof. Gunjan Tomer, staff and faculty of IIM Nagpur were the other eminent guests and participants of the program.
