Indian Institute for Management are the premium institutions in India for post-graduation, doctorate and executive education programs. The admission in IIMs is not a cake walk, it takes a lot of hard-work for any candidate to qualify the Common Admission Test (CAT), group discussion/ written ability test, personal interview.

IIMs also consider previous work experience, 10th and 12th score, other achievements but CAT is the first step towards IIMs. CAT score is the first call selection criteria followed by group discussion and personal interview as the final selection criteria.
CAT 2020
CAT 2020 will be conducted on 29th November, 2020. CAT 2020 result will be declared in January 2021, IIMs will select students for the first round on the basis of CAT 2020 score, as you can clearly see in the above section the weightage of CAT is different for each IIM. Over the past few years, the shift in the emphasis can be seen from CAT to personal interview; when it comes to IIMs. As IIM Ahmedabad has alone increased the weightage of personal interview in the selection process to 50%. Moreover, IIMs are increasing their diversity base by considering students from different academic backgrounds and giving certain weightage to women candidates to ensure gender diversity.
CAT 2020 Selection Process in COVID-19
The pandemic has forced IIMs to bring changes in the selection process. IIMs are suggesting scrapping the Written Ability Test (WAT) completely and IIM Kozhikode has already scrapped WAT and has completely shifted its focus on personal interview.
