October 12, 2020: Gauhati University has announced the starting of its undergraduate program classes from November 1, 2020, by posting an academic calendar on its official website.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown restrictions, the classes for various programs in Gauhati University (GU) has been put on hold.
After a long gap, the classes will now begin for undergraduate students from November 1, 2020.
As per the Guwahati University official academic calendar, the classes for even semester will begin from April 5, 2021.
Accordingly, the examination will be held from March 8, 2021, for odd semesters and will end till March 26, 2021.
For even semesters break, the varsity has shortened the break and will last it till a week i.e, March 27, 2021, to April 4, 2021.
The university notified all its students about the commencement of classes for various UG and PG programs at the University.
Gauhati University admission process for various programs will end at the end of October.

Gauhati University will begin the Undergraduate program for the next academic session under the guidelines published by the University Grant Commission.
For Postgraduate students, the third-semester classes will begin from November 1, 2020. The classes for rest PG programs will begin from November 18, 2020.

State Education Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma stated earlier that the state government will release the guidelines and protocols for reopening educational institutes and colleges from October 15, 2020, to October 20, 2020.
The details regarding the reopening of hostels are yet to be released by the Gauhati University. Due to the increasing cases of coronavirus in the states, chances are high that university hostels may not open until further notice.
