New Delhi: School of Law, Galgotias University, in collaboration with the Universal Institute of Legal Studies and Law Curators, has launched the prestigious “Advanced Course on Judicial Service and Professional Advocacy”. 

The course will be mentored by Justice J. R. Midha, the former judge of Delhi Highcourt. Justice Midha has joined the Galgotias University as Advisor and Professor Emeritus. 

This course is a step towards Justice Midha’s aim to reform legal education in India. The inauguration ceremony was attended by all the students of the Law School including the LLM and PhD students. The ceremony was held online through Zoom. 

The inauguration ceremony began with a welcome note by Dr. Preeti Bajaj, the Vice-Chancellor of Galgotias University. Through her address, she appreciated the efforts of the School of Law and mentoring of Justice Midha to make this innovative Value Added Course a reality. 

Dr. Bajaj also shared that being innovation and entrepreneurship driven, Galgotias University is one of the very few universities in the country to work on the basis of the philosophy of ‘student first’. Further, she stated how Value Added Courses can upskill the students in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP). 

In his speech, Justice Midha, shared his vision to reform legal education and encouraged the students to work on their advocacy skills by developing communication skills along with logical or legal reasoning. Referring to his experience as a Judge of the Delhi High Court, he stressed on the significance of rational thinking in developing professional advocacy. He appreciated the Management of Galgotias University for providing this Value Added Course free of cost to the students.

Justice Midha’s speech was followed with an address by Dr. Manish Arora, Director of the Universal Publication and SP Jain, the Founder of Law Curators. Dr. Arora discussed the entire process of judicial service competitive examination and stressed on the importance of keeping updates on the recent case laws. 

SP Jain addressed the significance of hard work, dedication and perseverance to prepare for the prestigious work.

Aradhana Galgotia, Director of Operations, shared the vision of the management for the School of Law and assured that the Management shall provide all the necessary support to the Law School and its endeavour. 

Professor Namita Singh Malik, the Dean of School of Law, Galgotias University, ended the ceremony with an address and a vote of thanks.
